Free Flu Shots For Carroll County Kids
Children's Flu Clinics

The following clinics will have available:
flu mist and flu shots
6 months - up through age 18.
No charge for either mist or shot.

Free Flu Shots for Carroll County Kids

Carroll County Public Schools, working with the Health Department, will begin Flu Mist administration on October 8th for children in public elementary and middle schools. Flu mist and flu shots will also be available for kids 18 and under at the Carroll County Health Department from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on the following Tuesdays: October 15th, 22, and 29th, and November 12th, 2013. Immunization Services
Provides clinical, educational, outreach, and tracking services to all children from birth to 18 years of age. Current recommended immunization schedules may be obtained by calling the National Immunization hotline at 1-800-232-2522. Immunization information can also be obtained by visiting the Center for Disease Control website at www.cdc.gov.

The Children's Immunization Clinic, offered by the Carroll County Health Department, is available by appiontment only. Appointments are necessary. Immunizations are offered to children under the age of 18.

Case Management Services
Registered nurses make home visits to teach health care, address specific health needs, assist client in obtaining medical care, link clients to appropriate community resources, promote preventive health programs, initiate and stimulate family support systems, and when necessary, manage skilled care needs of children and family members. Referrals are accepted from multiple sources including the Department of Social Services (DSS), schools, clients, teachers, physicians, and other agencies.

School Health Services
Nurses provide the liaison between the school health nurse and the home, community and the medical provider. Children are case managed to assure immediate needs are met and services initiated to improve the health and educational process. Nurses are assigned geographically to approximately six (6) schools each. For more information call 410-876-4900.

Lead Screening and Case Management
Lead screening is performed as a clinical service to the community. Lead case management is an ongoing service provided to children with elevated blood lead levels. To assure optimum outcomes, Blood Lead Levels are reported to local health departments by the Maryland Department of the Environment and local physicians. Medical management, environmental investigation, and health education services are arranged for those patients who are identified as "high" risk. For more information call 410-876-4942.

Health Education
Education is provided at various sites throughout the year by the request of many community agencies. School fairs, community health fairs, day care events, Safe Kids Day, and many other similar events held in the county. Nurses provide the expertise and speak on topics ranging from immunizations to pediculosis.
