Carroll County C.R.A.S.H. Coalition

Carroll Resources to Advance Safer Highways

What is the Carroll County C.R.A.S.H. Coalition?

The C.R.A.S.H. Coalition, Carroll Resources to Advance Safer Highways, is a community group that works to promote traffic safety in Carroll County.  The Coalition is comprised of representatives from a variety of Carroll County agencies, including, but not limited to, local police and fire departments, schools, and local government departments.  Led by Coalition Coordinator Mike Rill, the group meets bi-monthly at the Carroll County Health Department.  The Coalition is funded by a grant from the Maryland Highway Safety Office at the Maryland State Highway Administration.

What does the C.R.A.S.H. Coalition do?

The C.R.A.S.H. Coalition works to promote traffic safety in Carroll County.  Motor vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death and injuries to adults and children in the United States.  The Coalition works to prevent these deaths and injuries through community education programs in the following areas: impaired driving, occupant protection, child passenger safety, young drivers, older drivers, drowsy driving, aggressive driving, speeding, bike safety, pedestrian safety, as well as variety of other topics. The Coalition is able to provide educational brochures and literature, and is available to give presentations on these topics upon request, schedule permitting.

In addition to its traffic safety community education programs, the Coalition also promotes traffic safety through enforcement.  The Coalition supplies grant funds to local law enforcement agencies in order to allow officers to work overtime enforcement shifts specifically devoted to combating impaired driving and aggressive driving.

How Can I Become Involved in the C.R.A.S.H. Coalition?

The C.R.A.S.H. Coalition welcomes new members with a personal or professional interest in promoting highway traffic safety in order to reduce the occurrence of motor vehicle-related injuries and fatalities in Carroll County.  It is a vehicle for problem solving.  It is not a forum for voicing community traffic complaints. For more information on the next meeting, please call (410) 876-4819.
