Who we are:
The Women's Health program is a service of the Carroll County Health Department. Staffing is provided by physicians, certified nurse midwives, certified registered nurse practitioners, registered nurses and ancillary medical and clerical personnel. We are located at the Carroll County Health Department, 290 South Center Street, P.O. Box 845, Westminster, MD 21158-0845.

What we are:
The Women's Health program is a combination of services which serve women and their partners from puberty through menopause. Services include family planning clinic, gyn clinic, colposcopy clinic, community education, outreach and advocacy. Services are offered to anyone regardless of age, sex, race/ethnicity, or marital status. All services are confidential. Fees are charged on a sliding scale based on income and family size (income verification required). Most insurances are accepted, including Health Choice for family planning. Internet links are provided as a service and convenience to visitors of our website. What we do:
Family Planning Clinic

Comprehensive women's health gynecological services for women up to age 50 (birth control method and sterilization not a factor).
Services by appointment Monday mornings and afternoons; Thursday mornings, afternoons and evenings; and walk in services (supply/pill pick-up or Depo-provera injections only) Tuesday 12:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Complete physical exam, including clinical breast exam
Pap and cultures
Pregnancy testing and option counseling

Gyn Clinic

Comprehensive women's health gynecological services for women age 50 or over.
Services by appointment Monday afternoons.
Complete physical exam, including clinical breast exam
Pap and cultures
Women's health education
Mammogram orders and follow-up
Menopause education
HIV counseling, testing, and referral
Sexually transmitted disease diagnosis, treatment, and referral

Colposcopy Clinic:

Specialty services for follow-up of abnormal pap smears for women of any age (parental consent required under age 18).
Services by appointment 1st Tuesday of each month, mornings and afternoons
Repeat pap smears
Colposcopy, biopsy, endocervical curettage, cryotherapy
Education, counseling and referral

Community education, outreach, and advocacy:

Community-based programs designed to assist women and their partners in making good health decisions and empower them to be informed health consumers
Services are available as per class/meeting schedule or upon request.

Sykesville Shelter (Department of Juvenile Justice):

Women's health education and support group the 4th Wednesday of each month for shelter residents

Carroll County Coalition on teen pregnancy, parenting and prevention:

Interagency coalition to prevent teenage pregnancy, and support parenting teens, committee member and current chair, meetings the 2nd Tuesday of each month

Baby Shower:

Interagency effort to promote early, adequate, and appropriate prenatal care, committee member, meetings monthly, events twice yearly in the spring and fall

Risky Business Conference:

Interagency effort to educate and provide resources for professionals working with teens, committee member, meetings monthly, event yearly in June

Aspo/Lamaze Childbirth Classes:

Organized childbirth classes taught by Aspo/Lamaze trained instructors based on the Aspo/Lamaze philosophy of birth, offered in a 6-week series on an ongoing basis

School-based Education:

Any subject pertaining to women's health upon request

Community Group Education:

Any subject pertaining to women's health upon request
