OTHER NOTES:

·       WHO’s Global Pandemic Phase remains at FIVE (SIX is highest).  Measures spread, not severity.

·       WHO reporting 1,893 cases in 23 countries.

·       Yesterday, in the absence of CDC’s chart of the states’ breakdown of confirmed cases, 896 laboratory confirmed cases were reported in 41 states.  Additionally, 927 probable cases were reported for a total of 1,823 confirmed and probable cases in 43 states.

·       Median age is 15 years of age; age range is 1 month to 87 years; 58% of U. S. cases are under 18 years of age.

·       Now, only about 10% of confirmed cases have a travel history from Mexico.  Mexico has 949 confirmed cases and 29 confirmed deaths.

·       As of close of business today, the DHMH Emergency Operations Center will demobilize but remain on standby until further notice.

·       CDC beginning to indicate it will “dial back” operations, but does not want this action to send the message that the outbreak isn’t continuing. There seems to be no evidence that the virus is “petering out,” and CDC would not to expect to see that at this point.

CURRENT PUBLIC HEALTH RECOMMENDATIONS FOR A CARROLL COUNTY RESPONSE:

·       Nothing other than previously recommended.  There is no recommendation to cancel any public gatherings.
